Hello, nice to meet you.
I’m Lauren French Hoy, the founder of madreluzLA midwifery, bringing my passion for women's health and holistic care to the forefront.
My journey in midwifery began with the Luna Llena Midwifery School in Oaxaca, Mexico, where I immersed myself by learning from professional and traditional midwives, herbalists, feminists, healers, and activists. This experience laid the foundation for my commitment to woman-centered care and research. To further my expertise, I pursued a Masters of Science in Midwifery from Bastyr University, focusing on evidence-based midwifery practices. With over 15 years of experience as a midwife, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my practice.
I am dedicated to holistic women's healthcare, an advocate for reproductive rights, and am committed to being a compassionate and trusted partner for women and families throughout their life's transformative chapters.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree from UC Santa Barbara. There I became a peer health educator, teaching university students about sexual health and contraception. Witnessing the transformative power of education, I realized the importance of providing women with knowledge and resources to make informed decisions about their bodies.
My commitment to empowering women and families extends beyond midwifery. Drawing from my own experiences as a mother raising two sons in Oaxaca, my deep connection to Mexican culture enriched my family's understanding of healing plant medicine, traditions, and nourishing foods.
Now based in Los Angeles, I offer individualized holistic care for women of all ages, supporting them through life's transitions, from sexual health, fertility to pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause.
Outside of my work, I cherish my blended Mexican American family and the enriching experiences that come with living between two countries. Alongside my professional pursuits, I love to travel, explore new places and cultures, and spend treasured moments with my family.
THANK YOU
This is Doña Queta, my mentor, my healer, my friend.
Thank you to the traditional and professional midwives in Oaxaca, in the United States, and many other countries that shared their knowledge with me.
